Line run success: offensive linemen ranked

How often the team's designed runs gain enough to keep the offense on schedule, in the games he started. It is the line, the backs and the scheme together, and the five linemen who start together share it.

Why the box score misses it: Team rushing yards ignore the down and the distance.

A line stat, not one man's. This is his whole line's number: every lineman who starts beside him shares it, so it says how the unit is doing more than how he is. Linemen who start together are tied here and ordered by snaps played.

Partly signal, partly luck. Some of the differences between players on this stat are real and some are still chance.

Best so far: Alec Anderson (BUF), 52%. A typical offensive lineman is 40%. Players need at least 150 snaps to qualify, so nobody is ranked on a handful of plays.

How to read this table
  • The number on the left is the league rank among offensive linemen, even when the list is filtered to one team. On a graded stat the rank allows for how many plays are behind each number: a player with a few plays has his number pulled toward the middle, so he cannot jump ahead of a player who did the same over many more.
  • “Against the league” draws each player on the same strip: the ends are the 10th-best and 90th-best player, the shaded stretch is the middle half, and the tick is the median. Right is always better.
  • “Lately” is the change in grade between a player's last 2 games and the games before them. The tag says whether the change is bigger than what a few plays could cause.
  • Tick “Show the box score” to put the traditional totals next to the advanced number and sort by either.
