The Raiders trailed by 17 points in Houston before a defense that shut out the Texans in the second half, and an offense that leaned on Aidan O'Connell down the stretch, turned it into Klint Kubiak's first win as head coach.

How it happened

Fernando Mendoza started under center and struggled behind a shaky pocket, taking a sack and five hits before a pressure from rookie Woody Woodaz turned into a pick-six. O'Connell came in and settled things down, capping the comeback with a 96-yard drive that included a 33-yard strike to Brandon Johnson and a goal-line sneak for the winning score.

On the ground, Mike Washington Jr. broke off a 33-yard run on his very first carry and finished with 56 yards on 9 attempts, while Dylan Laube (37 yards, 1 TD) and Dare Ogunbowale (a 19-yard touchdown run) kept the drives moving.

The turning point was on defense. After allowing 20 first-half points, the unit didn't allow another one — and strip sacks from Patrick Johnson and Jahfari Harvey in the second half swung the field position battle in the Raiders' favor for good.

"The whole team — offense, defense — really proud of our guys," Kubiak said after the win.
